Get to know Emily Loftiss

Look Who's Shopping at Ally B!

Just for fun, I've decided to introduce a few people that come by with a few entertaining questions. I use to read a fashion magazine that had something like this on the last page of every issue and it was my favorite page to read!

So, meet Emily! She stops by every now and again when she is in town from one of her many "gigs" in New York or Vegas or wherever it is she may be. She is always so much fun and happy! You can tell she is genuinely glad to be home and visiting all around Thomasville. We love when Emily gets a chance to stop by!

Favorite Thomasville Shops: Well of course Ally B!!!! I have NEVER stopped by and not bought something. Alex does the best job picking special pieces that look unique. I adore DAVIS SHOE REPAIR because they have mended almost all my shoes. Since I live in NYC I walk everywhere and thank God for Mr. Davis for fixing them (and usually faster than humanly possible!) And lastly THE NEW IMAGE. Rita has great style and chooses beautiful gowns. I have worn several cocktail dresses and gowns from her and they are always a hit. My last red carpet event I wore one of her gowns!

Favorite Designers: I am madly in love with Micheal Kors! He can do no wrong!!!! I am a fan of Betsy Johnson, Pucci, Marc Jacobs and Christian Louboutin

Item you can't live without: LEGGINGS!!!!!!!!!! I've grown up in leggings all my life since I'm a dancer and I think nothing is better! Spandex is the best! And all my friends know I can't live without GOLD! I'm like a bird ....I love shinny things! Gold jewelry, gold bags, gold shoes!!!!!

Who do I look to for style? My mom has always had great style. She always looks gorgeous and still takes risks like wearing animal print, statement jewelry and leather. I always get in trouble when I come home because I try to steal her accessories (She has the best belts!!!!)

Last Splurge: My Michael Kors Gold Purse. I convinced myself to buy it by saying I could double it as a dance bag (which I totally can not. It's not big enough). But I use it daily and I still adore it.

Last Steal: Oh I'm so excited about this one. I love Motorcycle boots and wanted some FRYE boots. Right before I was about to buy some I was in Tallahassee with mom and found the EXACT kind in Target. So instead of spending $300 I got them for $48!!!! THEY ARE PERFECT!

Favorite item I own: My first pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. They were a gift from my boyfriend for my Opening Night. He surprised me with a box from Neiman Marcus with a note saying these were for the red carpet to go with my dress. So thoughtful and so unexpected. (AND THEY WERE GOLD!)

Favorite Jewelry: I got a name plate made that said Loftiss. I wore it several times a week but lost it a few months ago. I'm definitely getting a new one made. It was my favorite!!!!!!!!!!

Best Fashion Advice Received: Don't worry about sizes. I was told once to cut the size out of my clothes. What mattes is the fit of the outfit. If one pair of jeans are bigger than usual...who cares? If you look at the size and it puts you in a bad mood....CUT IT OUT!

Favorite Thing To Do In Thomasville: My #1 favorite thing to do is visit with friends. I was so lucky to grow up in Thomasville where I have a million mamas and daddies that claim me. I spend most of my days running place to place seeing the people that have known me my entire life. I feel so blessed.

Dress Me Up: I LIVE FOR DRESSING UP! Nothing makes me happier than getting all dolled up with dramatic make-up, heels and a knockout dress. I have more dress up clothes than casual clothes. I'm kinda known for always being overly dressed

Dress Me Down: My casual look is leggings and a tank top. I'll add a scarf and some gold jewelry and call it a day.

Beauty Advise: Befriend some bronzer! It's the easiest way to look more awake and happy. I can't live without it! It's definitely more important than blush.

My Passions: Performing. If I wasn't completely passionate about performing I would have never moved to New York and made this my career. It is such an up and down career but I just couldn't imagine doing anything else. I was born to perform.

I am guilty of: Being a complete romantic. I love poems, sappy movies, pet names, Hallmark commercials, love notes. My friends are always amazed how gushy I am. I can't help it...I'M A LOVER!!!!

What can people learn from me? I truly try to be a positive person. I feel like it's so easy to be negative that I consciously choose to think good thoughts about life. My friends call me to pick them up when they are down. It makes me proud to think that I'm that positive person to so many people.

What type of music do I like? I like all types. From hip-hop to alternative, classical to the blues. I've danced or choreographed to every type of music there is. But nothing makes my heart happier than Country. I like to run to Country music. I would secretly love to be a VJ!

Something Most People Don’t Know About Me: That I have a pageant business!!!!! I was 2nd runner up Miss Georgia and have all this knowledge about competing. I get the most pleasure out of training young women for Miss America and Miss USA. I get so excited when my girls compete and do well. I'm like a proud mama!

Look Who's Shopping at Ally B

"Look Who's Shopping at Ally B"

It's Hannah Barfield, Miss Thomasville herself! Get to know your Thomasville neighbor and fellow Ally B shopper! Stop by and let us know if you would like to be our next featured shopper!

Favorite Thomasville Shops: I love anything downtown or locally owned. I am a huge fan of the new campaign encouraging our community to spend $50 at locally owned businesses instead of at more commercial locations. Internet shopping is easy and convenient, but by spending money in our community, we are helping our community grow and flourish. Thomasville is very lucky to have such diverse and quality local stores to practice this strategy with.

Signature Pieces: A pair of great-fitting jeans and some really sharp pumps.

Style Icons: Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman

Last Splurge: I don't splurge.

Last Steal: I got a $395 DKNY black lace dress for $19. That has to set a record. It's going to be my #1 game day dress.

Desert Island Piece: Black Bikini

Favorite Jewelry: Pearls. I'm an old soul. In my opinion, nothing says "class" like pearls.

Best Fashion Advice Received: Never buy anything that doesn't fit. Even if it's just a little snug or a tad baggy. No matter how much you love it, you aren't going to wear it.

Favorite Thing To Do In Thomasville: Grab a piece of pizza with friends at Moonspin. Their blue cheese is amazing - don't tell my personal trainer!

Dress Me Up: A little bright dress. Black is flattering but can be drab. For fall, I love orange or red. In spring, you can wear any color you want! As long as it's silk, satin, silk georgette, lace, etc. - you're in good shape.

Dress Me Down: Jeans and a cute tank top = perfect class uniform.

Beauty Advice: Don't let anyone talk you into a piece you don't like, even if they're an "expert".

My Passions: Eradicating violence against women is my platform for Miss Thomasville. I work as a rape crisis hotline volunteer, a victim advocate, and a child advocate. The impact abuse, both sexual and domestic, has on families is severe and persistent. As Miss Thomasville, I hope to educate our community about violence commited against women, highlight and promote agencies like Halcyon Home that provide assistance to victims of abuse, and by proxy prevent domestic and sexual abuse. Another cause that I am passionate about is animals. This year I am hoping to work closely with the Thomasville Humane Society at adopt-a-thons and fundraisers. I'm a vehement supporter of spaying and neutering our pets. If every pet is a wanted pet then uthenization won't be necessary. Unwanted and unexpected litters of puppies and kittens only make guiltless animals suffer. Pets are gifts that really enrich our lives and we should treat them as such.

I am guilty of: ...stopping my car in the middle of four-lane highways to move turtles across the road

I’d like to learn to: To cook. Living on my own at college has forced to me to suffer through some pretty bad meals chef'ed up by myself. I could really benefit from some lessons in the kitchen.

Theme Song: "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor. I have a great family and a wonderful boyfriend and I'm thankful everyday for the quality of these relationships. They're my biggest support system and the first people I want to talk to at the end of the day.

Something Most People Don’t Know About Me: I'm a beauty queen AND a feminist. We come in all shapes, forms, and fashions :-)
